Tanuki are shape-shifting raccoon dogs from Japanese folklore known for being mischievous, but also benevolent tricksters. They are masters of illusion, able to transform into human forms, other animals, or even inanimate objects like kettles, and are often depicted with large bellies and oversized testicles which they use to make music or for physical transformations.
